Jeff Daniels Celebrates His Emmy Win By Filming Dumb & Dumber To With Jim Carrey!
Considering the talent Jeff Daniels was up against, we were pretty shocked to see him win the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role on The Newsroom!
Jeff barely had any time to celebrate his upset victory though, as he had to be in Georgia THIS MORNING to get to work on Dumb & Dumber To!
He told reporters that his plan was to party all night and then hop in his Shaggin' Wagon plane to jet off to Atlanta! And he's hoping that the booze and being at an altitude of 37,000 feet will help him get stupid enough to play his beloved part in the sequel flick!

Ryan Tannehill-led Miami Dolphins set up for sustained success
Yes, it was only Week 3, but it had the feel of a statement week. And no team made a bigger statement than the Miami Dolphins. No player made a bigger statement than young franchise quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
That's right: Ryan Tannehill, franchise quarterback. Get used it. And get used to the winning going on in South Florida.

Manny Machado suffers major leg injury against Rays
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado suffered a major injury in his left leg after singling with one out in the top of the seventh inning against the Rays on Monday afternoon. The injury appeared to occur when Machado’s left foot hit the first-base bag, causing the lower part of his left leg to hang loose. Machado immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his knee. It will be a while before the doctors are able to diagnose him, but this is obviously a season-ending injury and probably would be even if the end of the year wasn’t just seven days away.

'How I Met Your Mother' recap: The Wildcard
We’re officially on the road to the end of How I Met Your Mother. And after tonight’s season premiere, I can say with more conviction than ever that I hope this is a journey that goes slower than a roadtrip with Lady Tedwina Slowsby. Because I’m not ready to say goodbye. Not yet. Luckily, there’s an entire season ahead of us, and, as you might have guessed when the show announced that the season would take place in the 55 hours leading up to Robin and Barney’s wedding, we’ll be making lots of small stops along the way. Reggie Bush eyes Week 4 return
Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush said if Sunday's contest against the Washington Redskins had been a playoff game, he would have played instead of sitting out
Bush had wanted to play, but Detroit coach Jim Schwartz and team doctors decided that he would be inactive with the knee injury he suffered last week against Arizona.
"I feel good, man," Bush said after Sunday's 27-20 victory. "Honestly, I could have played today but it was coaches and doctors that decided it was best to sit this one out. Just to not risk any further injury. If it was a playoff game, I would have been in there.

Downton Abbey, ITV, series 4, episode 1, review [VIDEO]
The opening episode of series four of ITV's Downton Abbey had laughs, tears and a towering performance from Michelle Dockery, says Serena Davies. A triumvirate of women made last night’s opening instalment of the fourth series of Downton Abbey (ITV) a glowing success. A great deal rested on this episode. The capacious hole rendered by the death of Matthew Crawley, handsome hero and heir to the estate, was one it wouldn’t be easy to fill. Julian Fellowes did well then to embrace his absence and instead of trying to distract us with too much below stairs frippery, placed Matthew’s grieving wife centre stage. C.J. Spiller, Marcell Dareus leave game for Buffalo
The Bills keep losing players.
Cornerback Leodis McKelvin was added to the injury list in the first half and now running back C.J. Spiller and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus have joined him on the sideline.
Spiller’s return is being called questionable with a knee injury. He has rushed for just nine yards on 10 carries thus far in the game as the Jets have shut him down just about immediately every time he has touched the ball. Fred Jackson and Tashard Choice are handling the work in the backfield.

Browns roll to surprising comeback win vs. Vikings behind Brian Hoyer, special teams
Trent Richardson may have scored the first time he touched the ball for the Indianapolis Colts, but the Cleveland Browns didn’t seem to miss him too much.
For those of you (OK, those of us) who assumed that the Browns were tanking the 2013 season after trading Richardson to the Colts, we give you a very wild game in which Cleveland took a 24-17 lead over the Minnesota Vikings at the half and came back to win, 31-27. First, there was the play of quarterback Brian Hoyer, who replaced the injured Brandon Weeden for this game and now has a legitimate shot at keeping the starting spot.

Bears stay unbeaten with 40-23 win over Steelers
Julius Peppers picked up the ball, turned toward the wide swath of open field in front of him and took off.
Sure, the Chicago Bears ' defensive end admits he doesn't have the "blazing speed" of his youth. The way the Pittsburgh Steelers are backpedaling these days, it was hardly required.
Peppers scooped up a Ben Roethlisberger fumble and ran 42 yards with just under 4 minutes remaining to clinch a 40-23 victory Sunday night that kept the Bears (3-0) perfect.
"I happened to be at the right place at the right time and the ball bounced to me," Peppers said. "I got a hand on it and took it in, so there wasn't much else to talk about. That was the longest run I had with the ball, yes, I will tell you that."

Alex Smith's game management, Chiefs defense beats Eagles
Andy Reid has changed the trajectory of the Chiefs organization. That much was clear the first two weeks of the season when Kansas City traveled to Jacksonville and dominated in Week 1 and then as the Chiefs survived the Cowboys in Week 2.
But the first big road test occurred Thursday when the Chiefs traveled to Reid's old stomping grounds, before a crowd that actually gave him a standing ovation before the game. Then, Kansas City celebrated Reid's homecoming by taking Philadelphia's newfangled offense and rendering it mostly obsolete during the Chiefs 26-16 victory.

IOS 7 is screwing with jailbreakers
Apple's new platform makes it harder for users to "jailbreak" the device and apply custom designs
Visually speaking, things will never be the same for iOS users. This week’s public launch of iOS 7 marks the most substantial shift in the look and feel of Apple’s mobile operating system since it debuted in 2007. While the design overhaul will make for a palpably different experience for users of all stripes, it may be especially noticeable for jailbreakers.
One of the perks of jailbreaking one’s iOS device has long been the ability to apply custom design themes via a platform called WinterBoard. In recent years, however, WinterBoard’s ability to re–skin ever–evolving versions of iOS has slowly degraded. With iOS 7, the prospects look particularly dim, according to developers and designers in the jailbreaking community.

Browns trade Trent Richardson to Colts for first-round pick
The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a stunning trade Wednesday afternoon, sending their 2014 first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Trent Richardson. The move comes just 17 months after the Browns made Richardson the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL draft under a previous regime. The Browns appear to be stockpiling draft picks in order to grab a franchise quarterback in next year's draft. The deal came on the same day that the team announced third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday, with no guarantee that injured starter Brandon Weeden — drafted by the previous regime — would ever get his job back. The other big thing this update brings relevant to today is iOS 7 device support, which is necessary for those looking to update and sync their devices via the desktop when that new mobile OS goes live, likely in a couple of hours. Siri leaves beta, enters manhood [VIDEO]
When Siri, the voice "assistant" on the iPhone, made its debut in 2011, it was welcomed as futuristic way to interact with our gadgets. You could ask it simple questions, banter and flirt, or launch applications with one push of a button and without slogging through touchscreen menus. Two years later, Apple is giving Siri a major overhaul as part of Thursday's upgrade to its iOS 7 mobile operating system, and it's marking the occasion by finally dropping Siri's "beta" label. (Calling software beta usually means it is still a work in progress and that the company is ironing out any bugs.) Why You'll Never See World War Z's Original Ending
There were better blockbusters released in theaters this summer, but maybe none as fascinating as World War Z, which looked like a complete catastrophe until it opened to a surprise $66 million and reviews that seemed positive almost despite themselves. Much of the credit went to the film's new ending, which was totally rewritten by Damon Lindelof and Drew Goddard to be a tense interior scene as opposed to yet another battle scene. Marc Forster, who had reportedly feuded with Brad Pitt, was seen as the guy from whom the movie had to be rescued. But now the director is finally giving his side of the story on the film, and those changes that rescued the finale. 'New Girl' season 3 premiere: Paradise by the Dashboard Light

But, New Girl, you’ve never let me down before. Like Nick, Jess, and one of Winston’s puzzles, there are good, solid foundations there. Thoughts on Constitution Day
One of the exceptional features of the United States is surely that, by congressional requirement, every university in the country that accepts any federal funds is obligated to celebrate (or at least commemorate) Constitution Day. Many universities indeed schedule events on Sept. 17, the anniversary of the decision by all by three of the delegates assembled in Philadelphia to sign the document resulting from the almost four months of meetings (and contention) and to send it on to Congress with a request that it in turn send it on to the states for ratification. Perhaps needless to say, most of the activities can be described as celebrations. READ MORE HERE: http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/9/17/thoughts-on-constitutionday.html

Voyager 1 Reaches Interstellar Space. But Has It Left the Solar System?
Yesterday, NASA announced with some fanfare that after 36 years in space, the probe Voyager 1 has entered interstellar space.
I have two things to say here, and I want to be careful. First, this is an amazing event, and well worth celebrating. Second, a lot of people are saying Voyager 1 has left the solar system, and that’s not really accurate.
First things first. What scientists discovered is that in mid-to-late 2012, Voyager entered a new region of space. This all has to do with the solar wind, a stream of subatomic particles blown outward by the Sun. This wind expands outwards, and far beyond the orbit of Neptune it encounters the particles that exist between the stars. It pushes those aside, and loses momentum as it does so. At some point, the pressure from the wind is no longer strong enough to expand against the pressure of those external particles, and it slows to a stop. This region is called the heliopause. For years, we’ve known that Voyager is in the fuzzy volume of space where the heliopause lies, but it’s been maddeningly difficult to know if it had punched through.

Miserable-looking blobfish named world's ugliest animal
The blobfish, a denizen of the Pacific that looks like a bald, grumpy old man, has been named the world's ugliest animal, organisers of the offbeat competition say.
More than 3000 people contributed to an online poll aimed at raising awareness of unsightly species that play an important role in the ecological web.
The blobfish, a squidgy pink creature capable of enduring otherwise crushing pressures at great depth, is becoming a casualty of deep-sea trawling.

The Legend of Korra: "The Southern Lights" Review
Now on her own, free from Tenzin's watchful eye, Korra's spiritual training began with a journey to the South Pole, accompanied by the not-so-merry band of Unaloq, Mako, Tonraq, Bolin and the twins. It was good to see that Korra wasn't wasting any time in starting down her path as the Avatar -- or at least what Unalaq believes her path should be.
More so than "Rebel Spirit," "The Southern Lights" packed in a lot of backstory, particularly in regards to the spiritual state of the Southern Water Tribe, which fueled most of the conflict among Tonraq, Unalaq and Korra. These scenes were a bit slow-moving at first, with Unalaq verbally feeding Korra (and us) a ton of information about the Ever Storm, the ancient spirit portal, the Hundred Year War and the Southern Lights. Luckily, Bolin and Mako were there to break up the exposition with some humorous interplay. Bolin's gear presentation was especially enjoyable, as was his quieted afterthought, "Did I interrupt a conversation?"

Johnny Manziel continues to dazzle in loss to Alabama; more Overtime
Johnny Manziel continues to dazzle in loss to Alabama; more Overtime
There are three different ways to watch a football game, and each provides a different perspective. The first is on TV, which affords viewers the luxury of seeing numerous replays and close-ups. The second is from the stands or the press box, which allows viewers to focus on individual matchups and watch as plays develop. The third way to watch is from the sideline.
When covering a game, I usually go down to the field for the last five minutes or so of regulation in order to set up for postgame interviews. While undeniably cool, it's usually the least beneficial vantage point. It's mostly just a big scrum of bodies running into each other. Often, I find myself looking up to the video board for a better view of the action.

Nina Davuluri brushes off racist criticism after Miss America victory
The Miss America pageant has crowned its first winner from an Indian background – an aspiring doctor who plans to use the $50,000 (£31,000) prize money to fund her studies – sparking a flood of racist criticism on social media.
"I'm so happy this organisation has embraced diversity," 24-year-old Nina Davuluri said in her first press conference, moments after winning the crown in Atlantic City. "I'm thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America."
But within minutes of winning the title, Davuluri, whose talent routine was a Bollywood fusion dance, was the target of racist social media comments.
If you're #Miss America you should have to be American," said one on Twitter.
"WHEN WILL A WHITE WOMAN WIN #MISSAMERICA? Ever??!!" asked another.

Aaron Alexis, alleged Navy Yard shooting gunman, showed "pattern of misconduct" in military
(CBS News) Aaron Alexis, who was identified as the alleged gunman who died in Monday's deadly mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in the nation's capital, joined the Navy Reserves in May 2007, one day before his 28th birthday.
He then spent four years working as an aviation electrician's mate, most recently at the naval air station in Fort Worth, Texas. Military records show "a pattern of misconduct," and in January 2011 Alexis received a general discharge.

Washington Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis heard voices
Aaron Alexis was approved to buy a gun and hold a secret security clearance despite mental problems and a questionable military record.
Six weeks ago, Aaron Alexis told people someone had threatened him at an airport in Virginia. A few days later, in Rhode Island, he heard voices. He thought people were speaking to him through "the walls, floor and ceiling" of the Navy base there, where he was working.
In his hotel room, the voices used "some sort of microwave machine" to send vibrations through the ceiling and into his body, a police report shows him saying. He could not sleep.
Alexis frequently moved as part of his contract work at military installations from New England to North Carolina; he arrived in Washington on Aug. 25. He switched hotels several times until Sept. 7, when he finally settled into the Residence Inn — a mile from his new workplace at the historic Washington Navy Yard on the capital's waterfront.
