‘Veep’ stars honored at Emmys


Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Sunday won her second straight Emmy as best comedy actress for her role as vice president of the United States in the HBO series “Veep.” Louis-Dreyfus’s victory honored her for a portrayal of the cynical Selina Meyer in the send-up of modern-day Washington. “This is so much good fortune it’s almost too much to bear,” said Louis-Dreyfus. “I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to make people laugh. Bobby Cannavale Calls Rose Byrne ‘Love of My Life’ During Emmy Speech

“And I want to thank the love of my life, Rose [Byrne],” Bobby Cannavale said after accepting his Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on “Boardwalk Empire.” A bold statement for a couple who just came out in June as an official couple at CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City. Reports have them dating since last fall. Byrne, 33, who has starred in blockbusters like “Bridesmaids” and hit shows like “Damages,” couldn’t have looked any happier for her man. Emmys: Salute to Henry Bromell’s Legacy


Emmy voters gave a final nod to veteran scribe Henry Bromell in selected his “Q&A” episode of “Homeland” for the drama writing trophy. Bromell died in March at the age of 65 of a heart condition, just as production was beginning on the third season of “Homeland.” His widow, Sarah Bromell, accepted his award and noted how hard he and the “Homeland” crew worked on the episode that was pivotal for season two as it encompassed the first open confrontation between Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison and Damian Lewis’ Nicholas Brody. Elton John pays tribute to Liberace at the Emmys


Sir Elton John paid tribute to the late Liberace at the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles. To coincide with the Emmy-winning HBO Liberace film "Behind the Candelabra," starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, John took the stage to perform "Home Again," a song he said reminded him of Liberace. 2013 Emmys: On a wild night, things finally break 'Bad's' way


On a wild night of upsets at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, virtually nothing seemed to be going "Breaking Bad's" way. The AMC series, which concludes its much-lauded run next Sunday, didn't win a lot of honors it was expected to. Bryan Cranston, who was tabbed for outstanding lead actor in a drama, lost to "The Newsroom's" Jeff Daniels. Co-star Aaron Paul, who could have won supporting actor in a drama, ended up watching "Boardwalk Empire's" Bobby Cannavale take home the trophy.
