The first is on TV, which affords viewers the luxury of seeing numerous replays and close-ups. The second is from the stands or the press box, which allows viewers to focus on individual matchups and watch as plays develop. The third way to watch is from the sideline. When covering a game, I usually go down to the field for the last five minutes or so of regulation in order to set up for postgame interviews.
